Lecture 9: Shintō and the Holidays

This module explores some of the significant polytheistic practices of Shintō, as well as some of the stories from Japanese mythology that have greatly influenced Chanoyu and the utensils used throughout the Tea ceremony. We will examine some of the many rich examples of Shintō’s impact on Tea and holiday celebrations in Japan. The video runs 1h 47m.
